Foodie Spotlight: Indian Simmer

image

This is a reblog of a spotlight that we did a while back and just couldn't let sit on the old website! Since we first wrote this Prerna has been very busy! As well as posting a load of new recipes up on the blog, Indian Simmer won the editors' choice Best Regional Cuisine blog in the Saveur 'Best Food Blog Awards' this year - a well deserved achievement.

You might notice when you first visit the site that Prerna hasn't posted for a while… That's because she has just welcomed a new member of her family into the world! Don't worry… There's plenty to be looking at on the site and we're looking forward to seeing what comes next! :)

Here's the original spotlight with a couple more of our favourite recipes added… Because we can :) Enjoy!

You know that we love our curries here at Sorted. We often try our own twists as well as attempting to keep to traditional recipes, but really we're never going to have something truly authentic, with the stories to go with it.

Enter Prerna of Indian Simmer. We love this blog. The site is simple and fuss-free, focusing 100% on the amazing food. The photography is stunning too. It's not easy to make some curries look amazing and varied but Prerna consistently makes us want to jump into the screen and try the delicious looking food.

The recipes the perfect mix of authentic Indian dishes such as this chicken curry, taken from Prerna's childhood in India, but with a few twists and hacks inspired by to make them accessible to the average home cook. Make amazing Naan bread in your own home and try your hand at the crazy simple, coconut laddu.

Beetroot Gnocchi with Spicy Coconut Sauce from IndianSimmer on Vimeo.

Since we last featured the blog, Prerna has tried out some video. Go check out Beetroot Gnocchi with Spicy Coconut Sauce. We like video, so this is exciting stuff! She also experiments with other cuisines, and her latest recipe looks awesome. Avocado Mint Pesto with pasta is a combination i've never really thought about before!

Go check out Indian Simmer and get cooking!

Our favourite recipe: Proper Ghee, made in a slow cooker. Genius!

Top reason to follow Prerna: Authentic and accessible Indian food.
